Printr-un comunicat de presa ce ne-a sosit la redactie, baietii si fetele de la Ubisoft, proaspat intorsi dintr-o binemeritata vacanta, ne-au pus la dispozitie lista cu jocuri ce urmeaza sa apara in ultimul trimestru al anului fiscal 2005-2006 (perioada ianuarie - martie 2006), precum si platformele corespunzatoare. Spuneam, cu ceva timp în urmă, că UT2007 va fi unul dintre titlurile cu ajutorul cărora Sony ne va rupe guriţele la lansarea PS3-ului. Ei bine, vorbeam prostii. Am fost dezinformat cu vârf şi îndesat! War_Tourist, unul dintre producătorii de la Epic Games, este cel care a pus capăt dezinformării în care s-au bălăcit mai toate agenţiile de presă, afirmând că PC-ul, şi nu PS3-ul, va fi prima casă a celui mai aşteptat joc al anului 2006 (din punctul meu de vedere).
De asemenea, War_Tourist a confirmat că va exista o versiune demo, care ne va lovi PC-urile cu puţin timp înaintea lansării oficiale a jocului. Când se va lansa însă, să nu mă întrebaţi. Mama Omida n-a suflat o vorbă. Deocamdată.

Uwe Boll directs Ben Kingsley and Michael Madsen in film adaptation that went unscreened for critics.
The latest offering from notorious director of game-to-film adaptations Uwe Boll has opened in North America. BloodRayne, based on the Nazi-hunting exploits of Majesco's half-vampire vixen (as opposed to her Playboy-posing exploits), is now playing in wide release.
BloodRayne boasts a fair bit of star power compared to Boll's previous efforts, including Oscar-winner Ben Kingsley (Gandhi, Thunderbirds), Blockbuster Entertainment Award-winner Billy Zane (Titanic, Posse), Michelle Rodriguez (Girlfight, Blue Crush), Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs, Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home), and Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Mortal Kombat: Conquest) as the titular bloodsucker.
While Boll's work is often decried by gamers and critics alike, there are preliminary signs of improvement on the part of the oft-maligned director. According to the Internet Movie Database Bottom 100 ranking system, ranking system, BloodRayne is only the 42nd worst movie ever made as of press time. Boll's previous game-to-film efforts, Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead, rank as the 38th and 22nd worst movies ever, respectively.
Critical response is limited so far, as the film was not screened for movie reviewers. It opens against the gamer-themed comedy Grandma's Boy (also not screened for critics), and the horror film Hostel.

The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II va avea collector's edition anunta GameSpot printr-un interviu cu Mike Verdu de la EA Games.

EA announces a special edition of its upcoming PC real-time strategy sequel, The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II.
With The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II set to hit stores next month, Electronic Arts has revealed that it will do so in two flavors. A collector's edition of the strategy game in development at the publisher's Los Angeles studio will be made available along with the standard version.
The collector's edition will be mastered in HD for players with HDTV and HD PC setups and will include bonus videos and music tracks, as well as bonus pack-in materials like a color poster of the game and a coupon for an Nvidia graphics card. The special edition will also include exclusive in-game content, such as new skirmish maps, a special graphical treatment for online play, and a new fire-breathing dragon unit playable only by those who purchase the premium pack.
The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II will be the sequel to the 2004 real-time strategy game that used assets from Peter Jackson's award-winning motion pictures based on the fiction of novelist J.R.R. Tolkien. The sequel will leverage Tolkien's expanded written lore along with the movie rights to include new battles and characters not featured in the films.
Mike Verdu, the game's executive producer, took some time out to answer a few questions for GameSpot.
GameSpot: What can you tell us about the new dragon unit that will appear in the collector's edition of the game?
Mike Verdu:This is a creature design that is only available to Collector's Edition players--its model, texture, and animations are unique. This dragon is an original design; we worked on this critter for more than six weeks and did several iterations--he's been a labor of love for the Battle for Middle-earth II art team. It will appear in-game with one of five different skin texture variants ranging from black to mottled gray to gold (the skin choice is randomized each time he is summoned).
GS: Tell us about the other in-game features that will be included, like the new maps of Weathertop and Argonath. From what parts of the Tolkien fiction are these new areas?
MV:Weathertop is an iconic location from the first movie. This is the dark mountain with the circle of ruins where Frodo got injured in the battle with the Nazgul. The Argonath is also a memorable location from the films--you might remember the scene where these two enormous statues loom over the River Anduin near the ruins of Amon Hen (where Boromir got killed by Uruk-hai). These titanic stone figures are the Argonath. Another cool map in the Collector's Edition is a beautiful, Navy-centric, mostly water map we're calling Umbar (after the Corsairs of Umbar and their island home). There are others as well.
In addition to the dragon and the new maps, we are giving Collector's Edition players a special icon for their created heroes that will be visible to all online. Finally, there are some goodies in the Collector's Edition that we haven't told anyone about yet--including stunning white Eagles for Elves and Men of the West, a Black Mumakil for Mordor players, and other special art and effects.
GS: It was a bit surprising that EALA decided to develop a full-fledged sequel to the original game (rather than an expansion pack). Now that the game's development is nearly done, can you discuss the future of the Lord of the Rings series on the PC? Can we expect to see more strategy games using the license? Could this be the start of a long series of sequels?
MV:While I can't discuss any future product plans, I will say that the unified rights have unlocked the world of Middle-earth and make it possible to bring new heroes, stories, and places to life. This is a wonderful universe and it is brimming with possibilities for exciting new games--in many genres.
GS: Why should a LOTR Fan buy the CE as opposed to the normal version?
MV: The extra in-game content is cool--but we're also including a second DVD with a "making of" video, music from the game, and a collection of the game art. The "making of" video takes you behind the scenes and introduces you to the team and the process of creating a state-of-the-art RTS game at EA. And the art is amazing; I've worked on this project for a long time, and I'm still entranced with the concept art, cinematic paintings, and other pieces that were created during development. There are literally hundreds of illustrations and paintings of locations, characters, creatures, ships, structures, events, and key moments. I'm a fan of The Lord of the Rings and I love to see the world visualized this way.
We're also including a map of Middle-earth that shows where the campaigns take place (and describe each mission). And, of course, the Collector's Edition version of the game itself comes on DVD.
GS: Thanks for your time.
Both the standard and collector's edition of the sequel will be released next month. The game has been rated T for Teen and will retail for $49.99, with the collector's edition fetching $59.99.

Despite a recently released financial report delivering bad news for the current financial quarter, New York-based publisher Take Two Interactive confirmed this morning that it would be acquiring noted PC developer Irrational Games. Irrational's most recent titles included the self-published squad-based strategy title Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich, and SWAT 4, a tactical shooter for Vivendi Universal. Both titles received tremendous critical acclaim and were two of GameSpy's Top Ten PC games of the year.
Stretching back, Irrational continues to be noted for publishing System Shock 2, which remains a high-water mark in the action/RPG field and is widely considered to be one of the best games published for the PC platform. Irrational's future titles will be published under Take Two's "2K Games" brand, starting with the upcoming BioShock in 2007 for the PC and unnamed consoles. BioShock has been touted by Irrational as a "spiritual successor" to System Shock 2," a trademarked franchise held by EA.
Take Two Interactive is the home of the notable Grand Theft Auto series, a powerhouse on console systems with the most recent iteration, San Andreas, and Liberty City Stories debuting to strong sales. Despite this, the company has been plagued by bad news in the last year, including the much-ballyhooed "Hot Coffee" controversy, and disappointing sales on non-GTA games. The acquisition of Irrational also follows a recent pattern of companies such as Namco that traditionally make their mark in the console world trying to branch out into the PC world. |

In caz ca nu stiati, premiile Zmeura de Aur sunt decernate celor mai prosti dintre prostii industriei filmului. Actorul cu prestatia cea mai jalnica, filmul cel mai penibil, regizorul cel mai neinspirat si netalentat, ei sunt mandrii castigatori ai premiilor. Pe scurt, Zmeura de Aur este anti-Oscarul.
Anul acesta, colectia de nominalizari are in primele randuri productii inspirate din lumea jocurilor. Nici nu e de mirare. Pana acum acum n-am vazut un film bun inspirat de un joc si nici nu cred ca voi vedea prea curand.
Dupa cum era de asteptat, neamtul Uwe Boll a insfacat nominalizarea pentru Worst Director, cu fascinantul Alone in the dark. Ca sa nu fie singur pe podium, Tara Reid a venit sa-l sustina din postura de Worst Actress (performanta realizata tot in Alone in the dark). In final, apare si Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, propus Worst Actor pentru rolul sau din Doom. Probabil ca se vor intalni toti trei la ceremonie si vor discuta despre viitorul film Far-Cry, ca tot voia Uwe sa joace Stanca in film. Sau poate ca ar trebui sa-i spun Bolovanul.

Update to NCsoft's sinister MMORPG adds high-level zones, new missions. Heroes also get new graphics, tweaks.
NCsoft today revealed the plans for the first update to City of Villains, the massively multiplayer online role-playing game dedicated to super villainy. Issue 7: Destiny Manifest will be a free auto update for paying subscribers to the PC game and will be released this April.
New Mayhem Missions will see bad guys attacking Paragon City with new timed missions. The open-ended missions let gamers rob stores, take on the police, and harass citizens, while destroying city blocks and gaining bonus rewards.
Villains will also get a new set of more than 300 missions, new Patron Power Pools, new Power sets, and the high-level zone of Grandville, where mutated spiders and Lord Recluse will do their best to stop gamers.
City of Heroes will also benefit from the update, with new user-interface tweaks, graphical upgrades, and features being installed in both games.

With Stargate SG-1 on the verge of becoming the longest-running American sci-fi TV show ever, it seems about time that someone took a crack at turning it into a massively multiplayer online role-playing game for PCs. That someone will be the new development house Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, the company announced today.
Stargate Worlds will let players explore the universe of the film as soldiers and scientists, creating alliances and trade while defending humanity from hostile alien forces. Little has been revealed about the title, but it will draw upon both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis for inspiration.
While Cheyenne Mountain has no games to its credit, its management team has plenty of industry experience. Vice president of product development Joseph Ybarra started in the industry more than two decades ago as a producer with Electronic Arts. Games to his credit include PC classics such as M.U.L.E. and Wasteland and MMO games like Shadowbane and The Matrix Online. Art director Stu Rose worked on many of Blizzard's PC hits, from Diablo to World of Warcraft, while creative director Chris Klug cut his teeth as a game designer with the 1981 sci-fi RPG Universe and in more recent years worked on the sci-fi MMORPG Earth & Beyond.
Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment and MGM Interactive entered into the licensing agreement for Stargate Worlds last September, shortly after a previous game based on the TV series apparently imploded. A release date for Stargate Worlds has yet to be announced.

Bethesda nu a anuntat nici o data concreta, dar se pare ca mult asteptatul RPG al anului se aproprie de lansare. Nu putem sa facem nimic altceva decat sa asteptam si de ce nu sa mai facem un upgrade la sistemul nostru deja antic pentru un nou an de gaming. Situatie nu este roz, deci va prezint cerintele de sistem la Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Blizzard ne da iarasi batai de cap. S-au raspandit zvonuri despre un eventual sequal la cel mai mare hack&slash al tuturor timpuriloriablo.

Iubitorii action RPG-ului Boiling Point Road To Hell au de ce sa se bucure, se lanseaza un SEQUEL. Vestea care a aparut pe siteul lor oficial spune ca ar fi trimis chiar oameni in Cuba.Acestia s-au intors cu imagini de rezolutie mare,care vor fi folositi la crearea jocului.Ei doresc sa recreeze atmosfera al sud-americii.

Cei de la Activision au recunoscut ca nu sunt multumiti de True Crime: New York City si nici de GUN. Dar ultimul fiind un joc cu licenta noua a avut vanzari decente. La sfarsitul conferintei Activision au lasat cu gura casca sala sugerind o continuare la GUN. GUN 2 nu se va face datorita faptului ca in jurul licentei este un mare scandal. Si scandalurile de obicei aduc vanzari mari la jocuri.

O surpriza placuta. Dupa multe filme preview si imagini care ne-au lasat cu gura cascata EA lanseaza un demo posibila strategie al anului 2006. Fiti atenti Joi la toate siteurile de download caci veti gasi demoul sub forma unui fisier de 1.35 Gb. In joc vor fi incluse 2 factiuni ( dwarves si goblins). Veti mai gasi inca 2 harti, unul fiind tutorial iar unul skirmish.

Games Industry spune ca Peter Molynuex s-ar putea sa discute cu doua companii mari. Francezii de la Ubisoft si americanii de la Microsoft ar putea cumpara firma. Surprinzator este ca EA nu a arata semne ca ar vrea sa cumpere firma. Microsoft are avantajul ca a mai lucrat in trecut cu Lionhead ( Fable fiind initial lansat doar pe Xbox). Oricum discretia este pastrata si cei de la Lionhead nu afirma dar nici infirma stirea.

Obsidian Entertainment si LUCAS ARTS anunta : KOTOR 3 e in lucru si se va lansa cel mai probabil la sfarsitul anului sau inceputul lui 2007 ! Dintre platformele anuntate baietii amintesc doar " noua generatie de console " ... deocamdata !
Pe langa grafica se promite o interactiune mai mare cu NPC-urile si un final la fel de gri ! Sa dea Domnu ' =D

Halo 2 a fost anuntat si pt. viitoarea versiune de Windows,Vista.Acesta va fi doar pt. Windows Vista si va oferi niste bonusuri,acesta va contine Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack,iar gamerii vor putea sa-si creeze propriile harti pt. jocurile multiplayer.Look what the guys from Microfoft say:

EA a schimbat datele de lansare pentru multe dintre titlurile importante ce urmau a fi lansate in 2009. In cursul zilei de azi compania americana a anuntat schimbarea datei de lansare a Sims 3, a Dragon Age:Origins si a The Godfather II.
Sims 3 este continuarea jocurilor de mare succes din serie si va fi disponibil pe PC, Mac, iPhone, iPod Touch si alte dispozitive mobile. Jocul trebuia sa fie lansat in cursul lunii februarie, dar a fost amanat pentru 2 Iunie 2009.
Dragon Age: Origins este un RPG produs de BioWare si continuarea spirituala a jocului Baldur’s Gate. Datorita posibilitatilor avansate de personalizare a caracterelor si altor caracteristice avansate disponibile acesta a devenit unul dintre cele mai asteptate titluri din 2009. Lansarea jocului a fost amanata pentru sfarsitul anului 2009.
Cel mai surprinzator anunt este cel privind amanarea lansarii The Godfather II. Jocul trebuia sa fie disponibil in cateva saptamani, avand loc evenimente de prezentare si fiind anuntate bonusuri pentru cei ce comanda jocul. Dar, in cele din urma, titlul a fost programat pentru o lansare in anul fiscal 2010, ceea ce inseamana ca poate fi disponibil oricand intre sfarsitul acestui an si vara anului 2010.
